tenantspin have recently been meeting with Jean Grant from Pool Projects to discuss and document the changes planned for the Mecca Bingo site on Park Road, Dingle. Quite a few of the tenants are residents of the Park Road area (including myself!) and reguarly use the market which takes place on Tuesday mornings on a tarmaced site next to the old Mecca Bingo building.
The proposed plans will incorporate the entire site and swallow up the old Mecca Bingo building, social services building, Post Office and the site currently used by the market.
tenantspin participant Steve Moss started filming a bit of documentary about the market on the Tuesday before Christmas and plans to continue in the new year interviewing traders from the market and shops along Park Road itself as well as local residents, representitives from the council and Tesco.
We are hoping to have a screening of the film in an event held in Toxteth Town Hall, High Park Street, in February 2008. There will be an opportunity to find out more about the plans, share you views with other residents and representitives from Friends of the Earth and Liverpool University and watch our film about the market and trading in the the Park Road area.
Watch this space for more information regarding this project!
tenantspin’s Steve Moss and Mark Duckworth produced this film about the Liverpool Critical Mass. Are you a cyclist? Do you think Liverpool supports your environmentally conscious mode of transport…. have a look and let us know what you think!
Residents and staff from Tung Sing Housing joined Emily Voelker for a four hour tenantspin film-making lesson. None of the group had made a film before and this produced this short. So all you festive photo takers out - pay close attention….
Kim Ryan’s Anfield Changing was screened at FACT on Tuesday the 4th of December. The screening was a near sell out and the film was introduced by FACT’s Head of Programming Laura Sillars.
The night was a great success and feedback has been very positive. If you attended the screening and have any comments, please feel free to get in touch. tenantspin would once again like to thank everyone involved in the making of the film.
Also, keep an eye on tenantspin.org for news of further screenings.
On November 21st tenantspin hosted a discussion in the Renew Rooms on Wood Street discussing Polarisation. The discussion was in support of the Shrinking Cities Exhibition taking place at SITE Gallery, Albert Dock between November 2007 and January 2008. Chaired by tenantspin’s John McGuirk the conversation touched on topics such as modern city living, industrial development and transient workforces.
Please leave comments and feel free to add your own thoughts using the comments feature.
Tomorrow is the premiere screening of Anfield Changing, a film by Kim Ryan produced by tenantspin in partnership with Arena Housing Association. The film, which was made for the residents of the area, has been in production since October 2006 and is an open and honest look at regeneration work taking place in Anfield & Breckfield.
The film lasts around 35 minutes and will be followed by an informal opportunity to chat with the filmmaker and key stakeholders in the area.

Welcome to tenantspin’s new website. We thought it was time we had a slight facelift so we have created a new website that we’ll be using regularly to update you about our broadcasts, events and news.
We are also changing how we broadcast our shows online. tenantspin has enjoyed working with superchannel for years and regular tenantspin viewers will be familiar with the superchannel site and concept. However the popularity of services like YouTube has meant that people are now watching video online in new ways.
We’re going to be uploading all our shows to Google Video and of course we’ll be displaying them here on this site. Eventually we will create a new web archive of all tenantspin broadcasts, however as we have over 600 hours of video, this is not a small job. Some of our content may be offline for a while, but all new shows will appear here.
Check out our new Photo Galleries powered by Flickr.com. You can see all our albums and leave us comments. Enjoy!
